PROJECT 2
Project 2A: Production Shoot/Editing
Assigning Roles
In our class, we were randomly assigned into groups for a film project. Each group had the exciting task of selecting a movie to shoot a recreation of its first few seconds. Our group, known as "Peace ✌️ out" since we were group 2, were tasked to recreate the first few seconds of the movie trailer for 'Silent'. To ensure effective communication, we created a WhatsApp group chat where we discussed our roles and planned the project.

Mr. Martin shared the production shooting roles with us through Microsoft Teams. As a team, we discussed and assigned the roles, and I was designated as the Assistant Director.

Planning
With only one week to prepare before our shooting day on week 7, Jaycee and I wasted no time and immediately started planning. We decided to scout different areas on campus that could match the scenes from the trailer. After gathering all the necessary information, we delegated tasks to our group members and shared a to-do list. Jaycee and I took charge of creating plans and an itinerary for the shoot as we are the director and assistant director for this project. We even went the extra mile and took angled photos at the potential shooting locations, aligning them with the scenes we needed to recreate.

Shooting
The long-awaited shooting day finally arrived on May 9th at 4pm. Despite having planned out the time and duration for each scene meticulously, we encountered unexpected challenges during the camera setup phase. Ensuring that the cameras were in the perfect position and setting up the equipment took longer than anticipated. As a result, the initially estimated two hours of shooting time stretched to nearly three hours to complete our production shoot. However, we remained determined and persevered through the process, making adjustments on the spot and collaborating as a team to capture the desired shots effectively.

Video Editing
Once the shooting phase was completed, I began the task of compiling the footage and audio in Premiere Pro. To enhance the overall mood of the video, I chose the song "ONLY" by LeeHi, as its melancholic tone resonated well with the visuals. While reviewing the shots, I noticed certain segments that felt slightly disjointed. To address this, I adjusted the speed of those shots to ensure a seamless flow in line with the desired timing. Additionally, I fine-tuned the colors of certain clips to align them with the scene's intended atmosphere and create visual coherence across the shots.

Project 2B: Tiktok Video
Here is my Tiktok video plan. Since it is a video about me, my project idea revolves around creating a guide to some of the locations on Taylor's campus to sleep at. After class, I like to hang around campus and take a short nap before working on my assignments. So for this project, I would like to introduce some of my favorite napping spots in campus.

Having a strong familiarity with the locations I intended to shoot (as they were my favorite napping spots), the filming process was a breeze. Given that my role in the video primarily involved sleeping, capturing the scenes efficiently came naturally. Afterwards, I edited the video in Premiere Pro. However, upon sharing the video with Mr. Martin, his feedback highlighted the need to inject more excitement and engagement into the footage. Recognizing this, I understood the importance of adding a touch of spice to enhance the overall appeal and captivate the audience's attention.

After receiving feedback from Mr. Martin, I was determined to elevate the TikTok video to a more entertaining level. Returning to my beloved napping spots, I embarked on a retake with a fresh approach. To grab the viewers' attention right from the start, I incorporated an exciting Magical Girl transformation sequence in the beginning, infusing a sense of wonder and whimsy. Additionally, I added little comments about each spot, injecting humor and personal anecdotes to make the video more engaging. This time around, I dedicated a considerable amount of effort, striving to make every moment captivating and enjoyable for the audience.

Initially, I had planned to use the music "bee. AI" my video. However, I encountered a setback when I discovered that TikTok's music library did not include the full song. As a result, I had to make a last-minute change and opted for the track "Bubblegum KK" instead. This experience taught me an important lesson about being cautious when selecting music, considering the availability within TikTok's library. Without further ado, this is the finished result of my video.

FEEDBACK
Through our discussions, I learned the valuable lesson of the importance of collaboration and effective communication within a team. By openly sharing ideas and assigning roles that suited our strengths, we not only increased our productivity but also fostered a sense of unity and camaraderie. Mr. Martin's feedback was a significant contributor to our growth. His constructive criticism, specifically regarding the need to add excitement and engagement to the video, challenged me to think creatively and explore innovative solutions. I realized the significance of considering the audience's perspective and striving to create a captivating experience. Additionally, I deepened my understanding of the technical aspects of video production. From selecting appropriate music that aligned with the platform's library to utilizing visual effects and improving pacing through editing, I expanded my skill set and gained a more comprehensive understanding of how to create impactful videos. These experiences have equipped me with valuable insights and techniques that I look forward to applying in future projects as I continue to develop as a videographer.
