REFLECTION

Experience
My experience with advanced typography has been an interesting and transformative journey. Initially, I approached it with a mix of excitement and trepidation, as I knew it would require a good sense of design and a significant investment of time and effort. While there were moments of frustration, the satisfaction I derived from completing tasks and achieving desired outcomes made it all worthwhile. As a lover of learning, I embraced the opportunity to acquire new skills and expand my knowledge in typography. This semester has provided me with valuable insights and hands-on experience that will undoubtedly contribute to my growth as a designer!!! :D

Observations
During this typography assignment, I made some interesting observations. I discovered that each typeface has its own distinct personality and character. It's fascinating to see how different fonts evoke different emotions and convey unique meanings. Get it? 'Cause typeface. type. face. face, emotions!! Hahhaha. Additionally, I noticed that I struggled with accurately perceiving the thickness of letters. This led to some mistakes in Task 3, which I only noticed later on. It made the process more challenging and time-consuming. However, these observations have highlighted the areas where I need to improve and develop a better sense of design. Reflecting on my progress over the past year, I can see how much I've grown as a designer at Taylor's University.

Findings
Through my exploration of advanced typography, I made noteworthy findings that enriched my design practice. One revelation was the sheer creative potential in displaying fonts in unique and captivating ways. It was exhilarating to experiment with different layouts and compositions, pushing the boundaries of typographic design. Among the various tasks, designing the display poster was a standout experience, as it allowed me to unleash my creativity and create a visually impactful piece. Furthermore, I gained a profound appreciation for the critical role that proportion and balance play in typography. I learned that even a slight deviation in font width can significantly impact legibility and readability. This realization came to light during the kerning process, where I noticed the imbalances in fonts that stemmed from using an unbalanced shape. It reinforced the importance of meticulous attention to detail and maintaining consistency throughout the design.
